Classical Painter
Study with Me
I teach a variety of workshops and classes as well as private one to one tuition. If you’d like to study with me, drop me a message, email or give me a call and I’d love to chat to you about it.
I’m currently in the process of moving to Bath, where I will have a lovely studio with space for teaching. Until then, I am happy to offer private workshops in your own home.
All ages and abilities are welcome, I can tailor tuition for beginner to advanced students and young children to adults.
Sunny Art Centre
Covent Garden
For just over a year I’ve been teaching workshops at a small independent art school in Covent Garden. I focus on Old Master techniques such as Dutch flower painting and chiaroscuro portrait painting, passing on ages old knowledge and enabling students to create vibrant, realistic paintings over the course of four days.
One day and half day workshops
For those who want an introduction to classical painting, and to learn the speedier “alla prima” approach to realist painting I teach workshops where students get to paint an object – such as a flower, piece of fruit or teddy bear – from start to finish in one day. Concepts such as light and colour theory are taught in short bursts so students can absorb these important techniques in a shorter space of time.
If you find the materials aspect of oil painting complicated or confusing (and who doesn’t?!) I also teach half day workshops focussing entirely on materials. All your questions answered, and hopefully many of the seemingly mysterious methods like glazing will become clear and very doable after one of these sessions.
One-to-One Tuition
If you’re keen to study with me and would like to have one-to-one sessions, or group sessions with friends, do get in touch. I would be happy to teach any of the above workshops or create a tailored plan of study just for you.
These can take place in your own home, or in my Bath studio (from 2027).
